It’s a phono preamp that imposes its own sound on everything it’s fed instead of getting out of the way of the music. To my ears, the JD9 in particular has never been anything but a phono preamp with unfulfilled aspirations. I’m personally not a fan of Jolida products. That doesn’t necessarily mean that you will personally fall in love with it, but the audition will at the very least be enjoyable. It is difficult to understand how it could possibly be as good as it is for US$399 until it’s auditioned.

Parks Audio Puffin - DSP Phono Pre-amplifierĬlick to expand. The Parks Audio Puffin is a seriously fine accomplishment. preamps?īut all of them writes about the flexibility of this unit, and it's ability to serve several types of equipment, bot nothing about sound quality with vinyls, compare to others preamps. I know that's heresy from a purist's standpoint, but these seem to get rave reviews."Ĭan someone give me any personal impression from his experience of those ph. It takes the analog phono signal, converts it to digital, does some DSP, and then converts back to analog before sending the signal on. Usually i have a Reservation to anything that comes with the word "digital", but people that own it writes good reviews. I love my sound natural as it can be, without too many processing on the road. It has many adjustments options, but i'm not sure what is the digital thing here, and how doe's it effect the sound. His new model is the puffin phono dsp, they call it "analog silicon with DSP innovations". I also realized that parks audio stopped producing the tube budgie model. I love tube sound, but i understand that to get a real tube phono preamp i'll have to spend more. I uploaded a previously topic with general question about phono stage.Īfter reading and deciding about my price range i think on one of the above 3.
